Tim Howard left Everton’s game against Stoke City on Boxing Day through injury.

The 35-year-old U.S. national team goalkeeper looked to tweak his left calf muscle when launching a long kick upfield in the first half and Everton have since confirmed that their star goalkeeper has pulled his calf.

Howard did not return for the second half of the match, which Everton lost 1-0, and was replaced by Joel Robles in goal by Everton boss Roberto Martinez.

Everton trailed 1-0 at the break after Howard was beaten by Bojan’s penalty kick despite diving the right way.

Roberto Martinez confirmed that Howard will likely miss Everton’s match against Newcastle on Dec. 28 as this injury has come at precisely the wrong time.

With a busy festive schedule and after two-straight defeats for the first-time in the Premier League this season, Everton will now be without one of their talisman for the rest of the busy festive period.
