Several reports out of Toronto say goalkeeper Stefan Frei left the training ground on crutches following an accident at practice, possibly involving the a misplaced foot in the turf.

Terrible news; we’ll follow it today.

If there’s a silver lining to what could be a serious injury to TFC’s fine back-stopper, it’s this: Milos Kocic’s rise has provided cover around BMO.

Kocic. 26, was more than adequate last year as Frei’s injury replacement during one late-summer run. And he was even preferred by manager Aron Winter for the critical second leg two weeks ago in Los Angeles, as TFC advanced unexpectedly in CONCACAF Champions League, at the high-profile Galaxy’s expense.

Check back later for updates on this one.
