But back to the games on Tuesday, and Tim Sherwood got his first win as Villa boss to lift them out of the relegation zone, while Hull and Sunderland drew 1-1 in another relegation scrap. Southampton finally got back to winning ways against Crystal Palace thanks to a late goal, as there was plenty of drama.

Below are recaps, videos, analysis and more from all three matches. Just in case you missed anything...

Aston Villa 2-1 West Bromwich Albion - RECAP

Villa raced into an early lead as Gabriel Agbonlahor finished superbly in a first half they completely dominated. In the second half West Brom hit back as Saido Berahino headed home their first shot on target. 1-1. Then, a moment of real drama arrived in stoppage time as Baggies goalkeeper Ben Foster (who had a calamitous match) brought down Matthew Lowton and Christian Benteke slotted home the penalty kick. Cue epic fist-pumps from Tim Sherwood as Villa climbed out of the bottom three with a massive win. As for WBA, they are still in the relegation battle.

Hull City 1-1 Sunderland - RECAP

Hull took the lead through Dame N’Doye’s third goal in just his fourth game for the Tigers. On the sidelines just before half time “Eye of the Tiger” should have been the theme tune as Steve Bruce and Gus Poyet went at it as an altercation saw the latter get sent to the stands. Big Steve Bruce was livid and in the second half his mood worsened as Jack Rodwell equalized for the Black Cats. 1-1, as both sides remain in relegation trouble.

Southampton 1-0 Crystal Palace - RECAP

Relief. That was the buzzword around St Mary’s as Ronald Koeman’s boys won thanks to a late goal from Sadio Mane. Saints, like they have been doing for the past month or so, huffed and puffed throughout with 23 shots but after Wilfried Zaha hit the post, Palace had a real chance of snatching all three points. However, Koeman was a happy man as Mane’s goal pushed his side back into the top five as their Champions League dreams stay intact with 10 games to go.
