Sevilla 1-3 Manchester City

Manchester City got a massive result away from home, beating Sevilla 3-1 to book a spot in the last 16. The Citizens got off to a quick start, as goals from Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho put the visitors ahead 2-0 within the opening 15 minutes. Sevilla would pull one back, but Wilfried Bony restored City’s two-goal lead before the break. A great performance from Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

Manchester United 1-0 CSKA Moscow

Wayne Rooney broke United’s 404 minute goalscoring drought with a late header, taking all three points in a 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow. After dominating possession and controlling the match throughout the opening 75 minutes, it looked like a fourth consecutive scoreless draw was in line for Louis van Gaal’s side. But Wayne Rooney connected on a brilliant cross from Jesse Lingard, as United moves to the top of Group B.

Real Madrid 1-0 Paris Saint-Germain

In the most expensive match in Champions League history, Real Madrid held on to top Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 and advance to the knockout round. Marcelo went down with an injury in the 33rd minute, forcing Real to make an early change. Rafa Benitez made the right substitution, as Nacho came on and scored just minutes later to give the hosts a lead. PSG pressed throughout the match and had the better of chances, but failed to beat Keylor Navas for an equalizer.

Borussia Monchengladbach 1-1 Juventus

A tight game in Germany, as Gladbach and Juventus battled to a 1-1 draw. United States international Fabian Johnson scored the first UCL goal of his career, giving the Germans a lead within the opening 20 minutes. But Stephan Lichsteiner, playing in his first match after undergoing a heart procedure earlier this year, scored a beautiful equalizer for Juventus before the break. Juve was sent to ten men after Hernanes saw straight red for a harsh tackle early in the second half, forcing Gigi Buffon to put in a world-class performance in net, making save after save to hold onto the draw for Juventus.
