VIDEO: Louis van Gaal says he will not resign from Manchester United

Manchester United settled for a scoreless draw against Chelsea on Monday, as the Red Devils are now winless in eight matches in all competitions.

Despite the result, United put in one of their better performances as of late, controlling a majority of possession and creating some good chances on goal.

Louis van Gaal has been under immense pressure, with reports coming out before the match that his job was on the line if United lost against Chelsea.

Just a few days ago, the Dutchman said that he could resign himself if things did not turn around. However, after the Chelsea draw, van Gaal had changed his stance, saying there was “not any reason” for him to step down.

Will I resign? On the contrary. When the players can give such a performance with a lot of pressure, there is not any reason to resign for me. Maybe the media wants me to but I shall not resign.

Van Gaal was very pleased with the effort from his side, and believed they were the better team but didn’t have any luck to find the game-winner, as Thibaut Courtois made some big saves and United was twice denied by the woodwork.

His comments after the match show he has some newfound confidence in his players, and maybe his previous words about resigning showed he thought he may have lost the dressing room. However, with upcoming matches against Swansea City and Newcastle, good performances won’t be enough to keep van Gaal safe. Wins are necessary.
