Ronald Koeman was “very pleased” after watching his Southampton side cruise to a comfortable 3-1 Boxing Day victory away to Crystal Palace on Friday, the team’s second-straight victory after four consecutive losses to some of the Premier League’s heavy hitters saw the Saints fall from second to fifth in the league.
“It’s the best medicine for a football player, is winning games,” Koeman said following the victory that puts Southampton back into the fourth and final Champions League place. “That brings more belief than before. We are in a good way and we are happy about the performance today, but Sunday a new one. After our win today, it’s looking more comfortable to play against Chelsea on Sunday.”
Up next for Southampton, it’s back to the grindstone as the Saints welcome current league leaders Chelsea (Watch live on NBCSN and online via Live Extra, Sunday, 10 am ET), Arsenal (Thursday, 10 am ET) to St. Mary’s Stadium, followed by an away date with Manchester United (Sunday, Jan. 15, 11 am ET).
