Fabian Johnson scored the first Champions League goal of his career, giving Borussia Monchengladbach a 1-0 first-half lead over Juventus.

After falling-out with Jurgen Klinsmann and being sent home from the USMNT camp, Johnson has continued to play well for Gladbach, and was rewarded with a big goal in the Champions League.

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini slipped up in the box and was unable to clear a cross, as the ball fell to Raffael. Raffael fed Johnson, who fired a right-footed shot past Gigi Buffon.

However, Stephan Lichsteiner would equalize for Juventus later in the half, as the sides went into the break tied at one.
