Both Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard are legends of world soccer. That’s undisputed.

But what can be disputed is that fact that both players have been selected by MLS Commissioner Don Garber to play in the 2015 MLS All-Star Game, even though Lampard and Gerrard have yet to play a single second in Major League Soccer.

Many players, fans and media members in the U.S. have reacted angrily to Garber’s decision to award Lampard and Gerrard his two Commissioners picks for the 2015 ASG, as the game is supposed to be about honoring the standout players in MLS during the current season. Not winning the match or parading new Designated Players around just for the sake of it.

The fans voted for their best XI for the ASG game on July 29 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park against Tottenham Hotspur of the Premier League, and that was a fair reflection on the efforts of MLS’ elite so far during the 2015 season.

However, how could Garber justify including Lampard and Gerrard ahead of the likes of Sebastian Giovinco? We know that MLS will want their tow newest superstars on show during the festivities of the All-Star Game, but surely common sense comes into play here? How can Lampard and Gerrard be MLS All-Stars for 2015 if they haven’t actually played in MLS?

Anyway, I’ve said too much... Vote below on whether or not Lampard and Gerrard should have been included for marquee match against Spurs. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this vote.
