The man Chelsea fans call Dave just hammered a volley home, as the Blues have come storming back to draw level with Leicester City in third round EFL Cup action at King Power Stadium on Tuesday.

After Leicester opened up a 2-0 lead courtesy of two clever finishes from Shinji Okazaki, Gary Cahill snuck a ball across the line before halftime.

That’s when Cesar “Dave” Azpilicueta took advantage of an awkward soft clearance to belt a volley into the Leicester goal.

Growing up, I had a friend who was disappointed with the use of the American name “Chuck” being used for something being thrown with speed. For example, “Chuck that extra ball over here”.

He wanted to use Fred. For today, we’ll suggest Dave. Azpilicueta really Daved that equalizer.
