One of the greatest players to every play the game, if not the greatest, has been filmed slapping an Argentine journalist in the face. The man who led Argentina to the 1986 World Cup title, plus had a storied career with Boca Juniors, Barcelona and Napoli among others, always seems to be in the news for the wrong reasons.
This time an Argentine scribe took the brunt of Maradona’s right hand as the journalist was adjudged to have winked at Diego’s girlfriend Veronica Ojeda. The couple were mobbed by the media after leaving a theater and Maradona was showing off his son Diego Fernando in the car. Controversial Argentine football player and coach, Diego Maradona has once again found his way into the spotlight, by slapping a journalist.
Maradona, who was leaving a theater with his girlfriend Veronica Ojeda and their son Diego Fernando, became incensed when it appeared a journalist had winked at Ojeda. Maradona got out of his car and confronted the gentleman before slapping him across the face.
Maradona is famous for his time playing for Italy’s Napoli and the Argentine National Team. The football legend also coached Argentina at the 2010 World Cup before coaching for a season in the United Arab Emirates.
Maradona has long been a controversial figure in sports whether it has been being photographed with alleged mafia bosses to the ‘Hand of God’ goal at the World Cup in 1986. Despite this, Maradona is seen as a hero in Argentina as well as in Naples, where he led Napoli to the Scudetto in 1987 and 1990.
