WATCH: The 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy

Britain Soccer Hillsborough Inquest

Remembered the world over, 96 Liverpool fans who never returned 25-years ago.

This weekend marks the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy where 96 English soccer fans lost their lives due to a human crush during Liverpool’s FA Cup semifinal match with Nottingham Forest.

The incident, which occurred at the neutral venue of Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium and injured 766 people, was the worst stadium-related disaster in British history.

As a tribute to the fans who lost their lives all Premier League, Football League, Football Conference and FA Cup games slated for this weekend will kick off seven minutes late as a mark of respect for the disaster, which took place at 3:06pm on April 15, 1989.

In the video above, Joe Prince-Wright and I discuss the incident as well as Liverpool’s crunch tie with Manchester City, set to kick off Sunday 8:37am ET on NBCSN and Live Extra.
