West Ham won’t listen to Payet offers under $65 million

What will it take to pry the magic of Dimitri Payet from West Ham United?

No less than $65 million, and that might just get you the club’s attention.

Payet has been fantastic for club and (mostly) country, but that is a lot of money for a 29-year-old playmaker.

He’s been linked with Real Madrid amongst other locations, but earned a fresh contract with West Ham that is set to pay him through the 2020-21 season.

Here’s WHUFC joint chairman David Gold, from the BBC:

Gold confirmed the Hammers “won’t listen to offers less than £50m”, and is adamant the club “need to keep their best players” and “don’t welcome any offers” for French Euro 2016 star Payet.

Premier League clubs don’t have to sell their top assets given the big money that comes just from being in the league. But $65 million is a lot of dough for an older player. Could they be tempted? It seems unlikely given the club’s very vocal and big ambitions.
