With Steven Gerrard confirming his plans to sign for a professional soccer team in the USA this summer when his contract at Liverpool is up, how big would ‘Stevie G’s’ arrival in MLS be?

There have been plenty of superstars to arrive in North America’s top-flight over the last decade under the umbrella of being a Designated Player, with the likes of David Beckham, Thierry Henry and Robbie Keane flying the MLS flag. Gerrard’s destination has yet to be revealed, but the LA Galaxy look the most likely to snap up the legendary English midfielder.
Below, as we did previously when Orlando City SC announced that Kaka would be joining them for their inaugural 2015 season, we have ranked the top 10 biggest signings in MLS history. Remember, we are basing this list purely on the players’ superstar status and not solely on their output. Eight of the top 10 could conceivably suit up in MLS in 2015, which is exciting for everyone.
