The 2014 World Cup final will see Germany and Argentina clash at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
Argentina and Germany have met in two previous World Cup finals as Germany won 1-0 in Rome back in 1990, then four years earlier in the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City a Diego Maradona inspired Argentina beat West Germany 3-2.
Sunday will mark the first time two nations will contest the World Cup final for the third time in history. Brazil have faced Italy twice in past finals, but no nations have met thrice.
Germany will be searching for their fourth World Cup title, after reaching a record eighth final, while Argentina are in search of their third trophy after reaching their fifth title.
This match up pits two of the globe’s greatest soccer nations against each other.

Heading into the final Germany are likely to be the favorites given their comprehensive 7-1 battering of Brazil in their semifinal match. Argentina went the full 120 minutes in a grueling contest in Sao Paulo so their players will be in a race against time to recover and be fully-fit for the showpiece finale in Rio.
The 20th World Cup final in history will take place at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 13 as the month-long soccer extravaganza in Brazil comes to a close.
