Little League World Series 2019: Northern Virginia team wins regional, will represent Southeast Region in Williamsport

For the first time since 1994, a team from Virginia will appear in the Little League World Series.

A team from South Riding, Virginia in Loudoun County will represent the state in Williamsport after defeating Georgia 12-2 in the Southeast Regional final.

Loudoun County scored runs early, but it remained a three-run game until the fifth inning when the Virginian squad plated six more runs. Another run in the sixth saw Loudoun County's total climb to 12.

The boys from South Riding won three previous games to reach the final on Wednesday afternoon. On Aug. 2 they beat South Carolina 7-1, followed by a 12-3 rout of North Carolina the next day. In the semi-finals on Aug. 5, they snuck past Georgia 6-5.

The last team to represent Virginia in the LLWS was a squad from Springfield out of Fairfax County in 1994. After finishing second in the United States pool, Virginia ended up losing 2-1 to California in the semi-finals.

All eyes will be on the team from Loudoun County later this month, as the boys will try to bring home some hardware.

The 2019 LLWS runs from Aug. 10-25 at the Little League headquarters complex in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Redskins vs. Browns Preseason Week 1: Time, TV channel, live stream, how to watch

The long wait for football is finally over, as Week 1 of the NFL Preseason has arrived.

The Washington Redskins will travel to face the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

As with the start of any season, there is plenty of excitement about the year ahead. There are also plenty of unknowns.

The most obvious question mark is who will be the starting quarterback. They have two veterans in the mix with Case Keenum, who arrived over the offseason from Denver, and Colt McCoy, who has been with the Redskins since 2014, and of course the rookie out of Ohio State, Dwayne Haskins. The battle for the starting job will shift to an NFL field on Thursday night.

There are also questions about the offensive line. More specifically, about their Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams. When will he return? Will he return at all?

Of course, the preseason will feature key position battles up and down the roster.

All of these questions will be answered over the next four weeks, and NBC Sports Washington will be here to guide you through.

You can live stream every preseason game LIVE on the MyTeams App.
