The Orioles Instructional League team begins play on Sept. 22 at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota. Nine home games will be played, and admission is free. The final game is on Oct. 13.
Dylan Bundy, the team’s No. 1 draft pick in 2011 and Hunter Harvey, the top selection in 2013, are the two most recognizable names on the roster.
Bundy hasn’t pitched since May, and late last month Dr. James Andrews gave him the go-ahead. Harvey did not pitch this season. Both are on the team’s rehab list.
Outfielder DJ Stewart, the Orioles’ No. 1 pick in June is on the team. So is infielder Ryan Mountcastle, who was picked in the supplementary portion of the first round. Stewart was with Aberdeen. Mountcastle played with Gulf Coast and the Ironbirds.
Pitchers Brian Gonzalez and David Hess, both high picks in the 2014 draft are on the team. So is outfielder Josh Hart, the supplementary first round pick in 2013.
Jomar Reyes, the second pick in the Dominican Winter League draft, and a promising Delmarva prospect.
Chinese infielder Guiyuan (Itchy) Xu, signed in July, will get his first exposure to U.S. baseball in Sarasota.
