Gonzalez tries for bounce back win against Rays

Tonight’s Game:

Tampa Bay Rays (24-24) vs. Baltimore Orioles (22-24) Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, 7:05 p.m.

Starting pitchers:

Nathan Karns (3-2, 3.71) vs. MIguel Gonzalez (5-3, 3.83)

Keys to the Game:

Can Gonzalez bounce back? In his last start, he allowed a career-high 10 hits in four innings in Miami.

Can the bats keep going? The Orioles scored six runs in Thursday's second game. They've scored that many only six times in 26 games in May.

News and Notes:

Gonzalez has allowed one run in 13 1/3 innings in two starts against the Rays this season, but is 1-1.

The Orioles could make another move in the bullpen. Oliver Drake or Chaz Roe could be cut. Drake has an option; Roe does not. Neither has given up a run in a combined 10 innings.

The Orioles have used 35 players in 46 games this season. Last year, they used 44 in the entire season.

Karns is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in three starts against the Orioles.

Right fielder Steve Wilkerson hit his first MLB home run in the fourth inning, a solo shot to put Baltimore up 4-1. It proved to be the deciding run, as the White Sox scored only two more runs in the game.

A pair of Orioles fans, Joe and Katie Demski, got married in their O's jerseys on Wednesday!

WHITE SOX:

Ervin Santana suffered his second loss of 2019, giving up four runs (all earned) on six hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. The 36-year old's ERA now sits at 9.45.

First baseman Jose Abreu went 2-for-4 with a walk and drove in two runs for Chicago in the losing effort Wednesday. The two-time All-Star had a good game but is off to a cold start overall, now batting just .231 in 2019.
