Orioles acquire J.C. Romero from Cleveland

The Orioles acquired veteran left-handed reliever J.C. Romero from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for minor league infielder Carlos Rojas on Monday. The 35-year-old Romero opted out of his contract with the Orioles last month after the team didnt promote him. They had signed him on May 24, but couldnt find a spot for him. Romeros acquisition gives the Orioles a second left-hander in the bullpen to pair with Troy Patton.Romero was 1-0 with a 2.51 ERA with Norfolk and he had a 3.12 ERA in eight games with Columbus, the Indians Triple-A team.He was last in the majors with St. Louis, who released him on May 14. Romero had an ERA of 10.13 in 11 games. In 11 big league seasons, Romero has a 34-28 record with a 4.15 ERA. His best seasons were from 2007-10 with the Phillies when he was the left-handed specialist in an excellent bullpen.Romero was suspended for 50 games in 2009 for the use of banned substances.Hes also been with Minnesota, Boston, the Angels and Colorado.Romero will take the place of Miguel Socolovich, who was optioned to Norfolk after Sundays game. The Orioles will have to make room on their 40-man roster for Romero. Its possible that hell take the place of Norfolk infielder Ryan Adams on the roster. The 28-year-old Rojas was batting .208 in 39 games with Norfolk.

We can’t stop staring at these Bowie Baysox commemorative moon landing jerseys

One of the coolest things about Minor League Baseball is the creativity that comes with it.

The stadiums. The ice cream deals. The interesting mascots. And most importantly, the uniforms.

The Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, released special uniforms they will be wearing on Saturday for the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing.

And, oh wow, are they something. Take a look.

On the front of the uniform, you can see the image of where lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin planted the American flag on the lunar surface of the moon. On the back, a satellite view of the moon is pictured, with the player's number on top of it. Both the number and the cursive "Baysox" on the front are filled in with the American flag.

If you're looking for some to do on Saturday, go support the Baysox and their Moon Landing uniforms. If only there was a jersey giveaway.
