ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Buck Showalter keeps insisting that he doesn’t take the constant trade rumors involving the Orioles very seriously at all.
“We’ve got these four or five big trades that are going to happen that’s going to change all that,” Showalter scoffed.
“I don’t read anything. I don’t listen.”
Showalter says he relies to team public relations director Kristen Hudak to relay rumors. He may also listen to some when he’s getting a cup of coffee and MLB Network is on.
Executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette was with the team in New York and confers continually with Showalter about trade talks. Duquette is in Cooperstown, N.Y. for Pedro Martinez’s Hall of Fame induction
Earlier today, Foxsports.com’s Jon Morosi said the team was considering trading Wei-Yin Chen, Chris Davis and Matt Wieters. .
“Dan has never even brought that up and he brings up anything and everything that might be out there, and he’s never even mentioned that,” Showalter said.
