Paul Kruger hasnt been himself because of a back injury, and as a result rookie Courtney Upshaw has been moved into the starting lineup and it appears that will continue at least for the short-term.
Kruger sat out during the 24-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 and came off the bench in Sunday's 31-30 win vs. the New England Patriots.
He's still not all the way back. Kruger, who has more responsibility to drop in zone coverages and pick up tight ends and slot receivers, has just four tackles.
"I'm getting there. Last game, I felt good. I was able to fight through pain but now I think in the next couple of weeks I'll be feeling 100 percent," Kruger said.
The discomfort actually started before the Sept. 10 season opener vs. the Cincinnati Bengals, won 44-13 by Baltimore. So just how did he get injured?
"It was a combination of things. The game is a different monster because you're going full speed, you're going down to the ground a lot, you're tackling, things we don't do in practice very much," Kruger said. "I was getting sore through the week and then we started with the Cincinnati game that's when it flared up pretty bad."
