In the NFL, pressure is inevitable. For the next 10 days CSNBaltimore.com will be ranking the top 10 Ravens who are under pressure heading into training camp. Check back daily to see who is next in our countdown.
Why the pressure is on:
Owen Daniels is gone, and Dennis Pitta's future remains very much up in the air. Second-round draft pick Maxx Williams has a lot of potential, but he is still learning the ropes as a rookie. If Gillmore wants to be a starter in the NFL, the time to prove it is now.
What Gillmore needs to do:
Gillmore will never be a burner, but he needs to show he can get open and be a consistent pass catcher. He spent most of his time last season as a blocking tight end, finishing with 10 catches for 121 yards and one touchdown in the regular season. He added a touchdown catch in the playoff win at Pittsburgh. During a red-zone drill during OTA workouts, Gillmore had a couple of impressive grabs when he went up over linebacker Arthur Brown to make tough touchdown catches. New offensive coordinator Marc Trestman relies heavily on the tight ends, so Gillmore should have every chance to impress.
