The Orioles’ acquisition of Michael Bourn on Aug. 31 wasn’t a hyped one. However, it has been a good one.

Bourn, who had just three home runs in 89 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks, hit his second of the week for the Orioles. It was his 13th homer.

In his 11-year major league career, Bourn has never hit more than nine home runs in any season.

Bourn’s home run came off Justin Verlander. Entering Sunday’s game, Bourn was 13-for-35 (.341) against Verlander.

The home run gave the Orioles a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Jonathan Schoop added a home run in the fourth to put the Orioles ahead 3-0.
