NEW YORK—Hunter Harvey, the Orioles top draft choice in 2013, will have Tommy John surgery on Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Donald D’Alessandro.
Harvey, who missed 2015 with a broken shin and a flexor mass strain, the same injury that curtailed his 2014 season, had sports hernia surgery in May.
He had recently returned to action, pitching five games for Gulf Coast and Aberdeen, but left Saturday’s Ironbirds game complaining of the flexor mass injury.
The 21-year-old Harvey is 7-7 with a 2.79 ERA in 30 professional starts.
