BALTIMORE—It’s been quite a major league debut for Trey Mancini. Starting his first game for the Orioles, Mancini hit a home run in his second major league at-bat in the fifth inning of Tuesday night's game.
Mancini’s home run broke up a no-hitter by Boston Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez.
Mancini is the third Oriole to homer in his first major league game. Larry Haney (1966) and Jonathan Schoop (2013) were the others.
Mancini had his contract purchased from Norfolk on Sunday when Steve Pearce was placed on the 60-day disabled list.
