LOS ANGELES—Darren O’Day has been on the disabled list since June 1 with a strained right hamstring, and the Orioles think it’s possible that he’ll be back by the end of the All-Star break on July 15.
“Darren had another good day today. The problem is because it’s such a post-up leg in his delivery, you’ve got to make sure it’s healed before you start,” manager Buck Showalter said. “He’s throwing, but he’s not driving off his leg like his delivery does. Hopefully, that’s moving in a really good direction.”
O’Day has yet to throw a simulated game, and if things progress well, he could have a minor league rehab game next week.
“It’s possible. I think the next two or three days, if we like where we’re going, he won’t have much of an All-Star break,” Showalter said.
Showalter has said if things don’t progress well, O’Day may have to go to Sarasota, Fla. for more rehab.
T.J. McFarland on the disabled list with a left knee injury will be out three-to-four weeks, Showalter said.
