PITTSBURGH – The Ravens have just one way to make the playoffs – winning the AFC North by winning their last two games.
The Dolphins’ 34-31 overtime victory over the Bills on Saturday eliminated the Ravens from wild card contention. That makes the Ravens-Steelers matchup on Christmas a true must-win for Baltimore. The Ravens (8-6) must win their last two games on the road against the Steelers (9-5) and against the Bengals in Week 17 to make the playoffs.
That will be a tough task for the Ravens, who have lost four straight on the road, and who have not won away from Baltimore since September 25 at Jacksonville.
As the Dolphins-Bills game ended Saturday, the Ravens were just arriving at their team hotel in Pittsburgh after the flight from Baltimore. The Ravens needed help from the Bills to keep Baltimore’s wild card hopes alive.
Now the Ravens don’t need to scoreboard watch. They just need to win. If the Ravens don’t win their last two games, they will miss the playoffs for the second straight season, and for the third time in four years since winning Super Bowl XLVII.
