Beckham in no rush to join new club

Beckham in no rush to join new club

LONDON (AP) Nearly a month after leaving the Los Angeles Galaxy, David Beckham is considering ``a number of serious proposals'' but is in no rush to find a new team.

He has been linked to clubs in France, Australia and Asia in what would be the final chapter of the illustrious career of the 37-year-old midfielder and former England captain.

A ``host of clubs'' have made offers, Beckham's management company said in a statement to The Associated Press on Thursday, but it remains ``early days in the process.''

``David is in no hurry to make a decision, the key is making the right one as he has always done successfully in his career,'' the statement said.

Beckham ended his five-year stint in the United States by helping the Galaxy win the MLS Cup on Dec. 1.

He has said it's unlikely he will return to the English Premier League, where he starred for Manchester United from 1993 to 2003. Beckham is also reported to have ruled out a move to Australia's A-League.

The French sports newspaper L'Equipe said Thursday that Monaco, an ambitious French second-division club, has ended talks with Beckham, although his advisers have refused to comment.

``David is enjoying spending quality time with his family over the holidays,'' his management company said.

Beckham has also played for Real Madrid in Spain and AC Milan on loan in Italy.

Reports: Kobe Bryant killed in helicopter crash outside Los Angeles

Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash Sunday morning outside Los Angeles, per multiple reports. He was 41 years old.

TMZ first reported that Bryant was one of five people killed when a helicopter crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, CA. Multiple news outlets confirmed Bryant was on board the helicopter, including Yahoo and NBC Sports

Bryant played in the NBA for 20 years for the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five NBA titles, one MVP award and two Finals MVP's.

He retired following the 2015-16 season, meaning this is the first year Bryant is eligible to be elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The 2020 Hall of Fame class is set to be announced at NBA All-Star weekend in Chicago next month.

On Saturday, Lakers superstar LeBron James surpassed Bryant for third place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

As the news surfaced, players across the NBA and sports world expressed their sadness for the NBA legend. Wizards guard John Wall tweeted a broken heart.

Sean Taylor is scaring Pro Bowl punters like Tress Way to this day

Sean Taylor is scaring Pro Bowl punters like Tress Way to this day

The Pro Bowl may not count for anything other than an accolade on a player's resume, but it has delivered some memorable moments over the years.

Maybe the best Pro Bowl play ever was when Sean Taylor leveled former Bills punter Brian Moorman when the AFC tried to run a fake in the 2006 Pro Bowl.

Tress Way is representing the Redskins in the 2020 Pro Bowl and still has that play in the back of his mind.

When asked whether he'd try to pull off a fake punt of his own on Sunday, Way said yes but under specific conditions.

Minkah Fitzpatrick and Jamal Adams are the starting safeties for the AFC, so while both are great players and Adams is a hard-hitter in his own right, none of them are Taylor.

So if you see the NFC pull off a fake punt and Tress Way quickly gets rid of the ball, you'll know why.
