Earlier this summer, it was announced Alex Ovechkin would be headed to China as an NHL Ambassador, which will include youth hockey clinics, a media tour and business development meetings.

But over the past week, Ovi has devoted his time to helping out with Para Ice Hockey Russia's junior sledge hockey players.

Ovechkin was invited to participate in the organization's "Hockey - the world of bright colors" project where he created art with young para hockey players. The art will be sold at an auction in August to raise money for the organization.

Ovi has previously devoted his time to players with special needs. He's worked with the American Special Hockey Association over the course of his career and in 2015 lobbied to be picked last in the NHL All-Star Game draft to win a car.

After he wasn't picked last, he won a car anyways and donated it to the Washington Ice Dogs special hockey team.
