Nic Dowd has been married to his wife, Paige, for two years and has learned that the most important part of marriage is patience.

During an episode of Monumental Sports Network's Level With Me series, one of the scripted questions Garnet Hathaway had for Dowd was his advice for a good marriage.

"You've got to be patient with each other and understand that some days you have great days, some days you have bad days," Dowd said.

Dowd also said mentioned that sometimes you have bad days individually as well. When that happens, Dowd said it's important not to let that affect your spouse.

"You get to a point when you learn how to put your feelings aside for your spouse's feelings," said Dowd, who became a father to Louie Dowd on New Year's Eve.

The two Capitals grinders also discussed social media, Hathaway's college lobster roll stand, superstitions and celebrations, among many other topics. Dowd and Hathaway had natural chemistry during the question-and-answer show, continuing their rapport from the podcast they co-host Between Two Blue Lines
