As the Capitals took to the ice for pregame warmups, they were dressed in their Sunday best, wearing their thro-back red alternate jerseys.
Sunday’s game against the Arizona Coyotes is the first of 12 home games in which the Caps will wear their third jerseys this season. Here are the remaining 11:
Nov. 30 vs. New Jersey
Dec. 19 vs. Pittsburgh
Dec. 27 vs. Carolina
Jan. 8 vs. Philadelphia
Jan. 12 vs. Columbus
Jan. 18 vs. New York Islanders
Feb. 7 vs. Colorado
Feb. 24 vs. New York Rangers
March 8 vs. New Jersey
March 26 vs. Carolina
April 6 vs. New York Islanders
The NHL switched from Reebok to Adidas as the official outfitter prior to the 2017-18 season. Due to the switch, no team was allowed a third jersey last season except for those teams playing in outdoor games.
The third jerseys are making a triumphant return this season, triumphant because the throwback red is the best look this team has ever had in its history.
Regardless of what happens in Sunday’s game, the Caps are going to make it look good.
