Tom Wilson and Evgeny Kuznetsov both scored to help lead the Metropolitan Division to an All-Star Game title on Sunday. The Metropolitan Division defeated both the Pacific and Central Divisions en route to the win.
Game 1: Metropolitan 6, Pacific 4
WIlson was, once again, booed heartily by the Vegas crowd when introduced. Kuznetsov was booed a bit as well when introduced immediately after as memories of Washington's victory over Vegas in the 2018 Stanley Cup Final remain. He had fun with it though as you could see him booing Wilson as he skated over to his teammate.
Kuznetsov was asked about all the boos for Wilson during the second game and had a pretty good response.
Kuznetsov hooked his teammate up early as Wilson snapped a shot into the net just 13 seconds into the game. It was the fastest goal in an All-Star Game since the league changed to the 3-on-3 format and the second-fastest goal of any format.
Both Wilson and Kuznetsov were denied on breakaways later in the game and would each finish with one point each.
Title Game: Metropolitan 5, Central 3
The Caps once again opened the scoring as Kuznetsov scored on a 2-on-1 to give the Metropolitan Division a 1-0 lead 27 seconds in.
The Metropolitan Division would go on to win 5-3 and take the ASG title. Kuznetsov finished with one goal and one assist through both games. Wilson had one goal. They will each receive a share of the $1,000,000 prize money that went to the winning team.
Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux was named the MVP.
