Lundqvist tweets gratitude for support after learning of heart condition

After learning of a heart condition that would prevent him from competing with his new Capitals teammates this season, Henrik Lundqvist received support from all over the league

Being the classy vet that he is, Lundqvist expressed his gratitude for all the positive messages via Twitter.

"It’s been a very emotional week for me and my family. I just want to express my gratitude for all the support from around the league and from people everywhere," Lundqvist wrote. "Life is full of challenges and I’m ready to tackle this one. Mindset is everything!"

At 38, Lundqvist was vocal upon initially signing with Washington of how excited he was to continue playing at a high level in a new environment.

But as Lundqvist recovers and gets back to full strength, the time is now for Ilya Samsonov to take the reigns in net after a decade-long Braden Holtby era.

Lundqvist also made sure to thank the fans for their welcoming embrace.

Get well soon, King!
