A strong start for the Capitals on Wednesday night wasn’t enough to pick up a victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. In the second period the Caps suffered from several penalties that resulted in a 5-2 loss. 

The loss puts an end to Braden Holtby's personal three-game winning streak, Holtby allowed five goals on 29 shots in Wednesday's loss.

The Caps now head to Madison Square Garden to face-off against the New York Rangers.

CAPITALS at RANGERS PLAYERS TO WATCH

Alex Ovechkin, LW, Capitals (45-18-63): 
Within the first period of Sundays 4-3 victory over the Wild, Ovi scored two goals in the first period in addition to being credited with an assist on Tom Wilson’s game-winning goal.  

Lars Eller, C, Capitals (15-22-37): 
Eller got things started early in Wednesday nights game. The Caps forward finished the game with an even rating and two shots on goal in 17:18 of ice time. He's up to 16 goals and 38 points in 66 games this season. So far, Eller's having a good year by his standards. 

Mika Zibanejad, C, Rangers (33-33-66): 
Zibanejad scored his 33rd goal of the season in the Rangers 3-1 loss to the Blues. In the first period Zibanejad scored an impressive power play goal to give the Rangers the lead. Zibanejad continues to build on his season, he has scored a goal in eight of his last nine games.
