The Capitals are set to take on the defending champion Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night in Darcy Kuemper's first time returning to Ball Arena as an opponent since hoisting the Stanley Cup with them last season.
Washington will look to finish off its three-game road trip on a high note after splitting a pair of contests with the Arizona Coyotes and Vegas Golden Knights last week. The Avalanche have won five straight, thrusting themselves back into the playoff race after an injury-plagued start to the season.
