How to watch Capitals vs. Blue Jackets

Capitals

A pair of Metropolitan Division foes will be looking to snap their respective losing streaks Saturday night, as the Capitals get set to take on the Blue Jackets on their home ice.

The Caps are coming off two consecutive losses to the Panthers and Blackhawks, both of which saw them blow third-period leads. Still, Washington sits atop their division with 35 points, grabbing a point in all but four of their games so far this season.

Meanwhile, Columbus hasn't had as successful a start to the 2021-22 campaign. The Blue Jackets have lost three straight entering Saturday's matchup and are currently fifth in the division behind the Caps, Hurricanes, Rangers and Penguins.

Here's everything you need to know to watch the game.

CAPITALS VS. BLUE JACKETS WHAT TO WATCH

From NBC Sports Washington's Andrew Gillis

"The blown leads in the third period aren’t yet an issue for the Capitals — and far from it... But it’s something that they’ve certainly taken note of the last two games, of which they feel they’ve left three points on the ice." Read more.

From NBC Sports Washington's JJ Regan

"The Caps' first-period effort on Thursday left a lot to be desired. Against a Blackhawks team with just seven wins in its first 21 games, Washington put together a lackluster effort with multiple defensive breakdowns and few positives to speak of. The team was fortunate the score was only 1-0 after 20. Things changed quickly in the second period. Just 21 seconds in, Ovechkin delivered a thunderous hit to Chicago defenseman Connor Murphy that proved to be the major turning point in the game." Read more.

CAPITALS VS. BLUE JACKETS PLAYERS TO WATCH

Capitals: Alex Ovechkin, LW (24 games, 19 goals, 19 assists): Ovechkin continues to play at an extremely high level at 36 years old. He leads the Caps in goals and points, sits fourth all time in goals scored (749) and needs one assist to pass Marian Hossa on the all-time helpers list.

Oliver Bjorkstrand, RW, Blue Jackets (10 games, 5 goals, 8 assists, 13 points): Bjorkstrand facilitates the Blue Jackets' second line and their power play unit, so you will hear his name called a lot on Friday night.
