Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin continues to climb the NHL's all-time scoring list. The 36-year-old surpassed Brett Hull following his 742nd career goal as the Capitals captain stands alone in fourth place.

The Capitals sent out a video on their social media platforms where Hull congratulated Ovechkin for this achievement.

"Alex, congratulations on moving into number four on the all-time scoring list," Hull said.

He added, "Well, Alex, the Great Eight, you have lived up to your nickname and more. Keep climbing that ladder, and I wish you nothing but success."

Ovechkin now needs 25 goals to surpass former Capital forward Jaromír Jágr for third all-time and is 153 away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the NHL record.

After Washington went down 1-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets, Ovechkin fired a shot from the top left circle, beating Joonas Korpisalo to even the score 1-1.
