Getting an advantage at home is always important in sports.
When it comes to the playoffs, plenty of teams find ways to make sure their home arena or stadium isn't infested by fans from out-of-town.
Restricting ticket sales is a common tactic, but the Lightning are taking it a step further to help secure their home ice advantage heading into Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Capitals.
They're enforcing a dress code.
No, we are not kidding.
Not only can you not buy tickets through the team or its official partner, Ticketmaster without a Florida Zip code, but the Tampa Bay Lightning also added a clause to their ticket policy that wouldn't allow Capitals fans to wear red or anything with the team's logo if their seats are in the Lightning's Lexus Lounge.
This includes seats against the glass, or in the Chase Club luxury suites.
Instead, it's neutral colors, or you're out.
“Fans wearing visiting team-branded apparel will be asked to remove such apparel while in these areas,” the team said.
So maybe you were already planning a trip down to Tampa with the family. Or, you just happen to be there on business during the series. Heck, maybe you want to make the trek down to The 813 just to invade Amalie Arena and rock the red.
Now you have some roadblocks to get through.
“It’s just an added measure to keep our building as blue as possible,” Lightning executive vice president of communications Bill Wickett said.
Luckily, Capital One Area can do the exact same thing.

So if you can't make it down to Florida for the first two games, don't worry, you're more than welcome to help the Capitals with their home-ice advantage starting in Game 3.
