In the wake of the NBA's decision to suspend the regular season after a player tested positive for coronavirus, the NHL released a statement on Wednesday saying the league is "continuing to consult with medical experts and is evaluating the options." It also stated the league expects a further update on Thursday.
At the moment, the NHL has not suspended play allowing for the remainder of Wednesday's slate of games to be played.
Any further updates on Thursday will impact the Capitals who are set to host the Detroit Red Wings at 7 p.m. That is just one of 10 games scheduled for Thursday.
Washington still has 13 games remaining on its regular-season schedule including eight games at Capital One Arena. The final day of the regular season is currently set for April 4.
