Nicklas Backstrom is ill and will be a game-time decision Thursday night in Vancouver, the Capitals said.

Backstrom also did not participate in the morning skate at Rogers Arena, as the team prepares for their 10pm ET game against the Canucks.

The star center is tied with Evgeny Kuznetsov for the team lead in points with 12 (3 goals, 9 assists).

Backstrom has not missed a game since the 2015-16 season.

If he is unable to suit up, it’ll deal the Caps’ injury-depleted lineup yet another blow.

The team is already without No. 1 defenseman Matt Niskanen (upper body injury), winger Andre Burakovsky (broken left thumb) and center Tyler Graovac (upper body).

Washington recalled Chandler Stephenson from minor league Hershey prior to departing for the trip, so he would presumably slide into the lineup should Backstrom not play.
