With less than a week to go before the expansion draft, a former Capital could be headed to the NHL's newest franchise.
According to The Athletic's Thomas Drance and Rick Dhaliwal, Holtby is drawing interest from the Seattle Kraken. Holtby is expected to be available to the Kraken in the expansion draft, and several other teams are reportedly interested in his services as well.
2021 was Holtby's first season in the NHL not with the Capitals. After a decade in Washington and a Stanley Cup Final win, Holtby signed a two-year, $8.6 million contract with the Canucks.
Holtby struggled in his first season with Vancouver, but that does not appear to have hurt his stock around the league.
The Kraken will undergo its expansion draft on Wednesday at 8 p.m. They're required to select 30 players, while 20 of them must be under contract for next season.
