Jakub Vrana is coming off his best season in a Capitals uniform. Now, he's on his way back to Washington for year five.
Though he didn't have the best postseason, neither did his teammates in that first-round exit to the Islanders.
Vrana notched 52 points (22 goals and 27 assists) during the 2019-20 campaign, solidifying himself as a reliable force for the Capitals offense who's improved his point total each year he's been in the league. With the NHL finalizing plans for the 2021 season, Vrana's bags are packed and he's en route to the nation's capital in a contract year. Vrana signed a two-year, $6.7 million extension in June 2019.
The NHL is currently targeting a Jan. 13 start date for the start of the 2021 season and training camps are reportedly set to start up on Jan. 3, according to a TSN Sports report. With enough time to get over that jet lag and into shape for the start of next season, the Czech Republic native could be ready for yet another breakout season.
