The Eastern Conference first-round matchups in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs are all set and we now know what the bracket looks like as the NHL's best vie for the Washington Capitals' Stanley Cup championship

The Washington Capitals will face off against the Carolina Hurricanes following the end of the regular season on Saturday night.

Carolina is in the postseason for the first time since 2009. Washington won all four of their meetings this season including a home-and-home played just over a week ago. The Hurricanes were one of the biggest surprises of the NHL season. Rod Brind'Amour is in his first season as head coach and the roster went through a major overhaul in the offseason. Jeff Skinner was sent to Buffalo for a handful of draft picks and a prospect while a blockbuster trade netted Carolina Dougie Hamilton and Micheal Ferland from Calgary in exchange for Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm. Perhaps most important were the additions of goalies Petr Mrazek and Curtis McElhinney who solidified the goalie position over Scott Darling.

The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs begin on Wednesday, April 10.
