The Capitals playoff seeding is on the line, as Washington must win on Sunday to earn the third seed in the 2020 NHL playoffs.
Well, their Sunday matinee contest against the Bruins got off to a great start.
With just seconds remaining in the first period, Washington forward T.J. Oshie found the back of the net on a rebound shot to give the Caps an early 1-0 lead.

Oshie's goal gave Washington its first lead of the NHL restart in three games.
Over the past few years, the Capitals have had plenty of success against Boston when scoring first.
Big goal by Oshie to give #Caps their first lead of the round robin! They’ve been dominated in faceoffs all period. That all started with a big faceoff win.— Rob Carlin (@RobCarlinNBCS) August 9, 2020
FWIW, they are 11-0 vs #NHLBruins over last few years when scoring first. #ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/EFhUWJm5AY
If Washington holds on to their slim lead, they will face the No. 6 seed New York Islanders, However, if Boston comes back to win, the Capitals will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round, the same team that eliminated them in the postseason last year.
