As the 2018-19 regular season winds down, we at NBC Sports Washington are taking a look back at the 20 most important goals of the Capitals 2018 Stanley Cup run. Here's No. 16.

Trailing 1-0 in Round 2 vs the Penguins, the Caps knew they needed to win in Game 2. Ovechkin got the scoring started 1:26 into the game with a snipe to the upper right corner. The Caps went on to win the game 4-1.

Here's what NBC Sports Washington analyst Alan May remembers about that moment:

"That goal was absolutely huge because it gives you so much confidence," he said. "Everyone's so uptight - there's a day off between games and you do that and you know this isn't the same Caps team that lost to Pittsburgh. There's fight, they're not too uptight, everyone's looking to Ovi to score the big goals and he comes through on that one."

"All of a sudden, confidence is raised and the level of play, the intensity, the tenacity of the game, the speed, the pace is all in the Caps' favor entirely after that."
