During Sunday's broadcast of the Washington Football Team-Giants game, FOX ran a graphic explaining how New York's offense had produced just one play of 40-plus yards on the season. That made them the league's least explosive unit in the sport.
On the next snap, this happened:
Jack Del Rio's defense has had a really rough 2020, but giving up a scramble of that length to Jones is seriously alarming, even though the quarterback is actually New York's leading rusher on the year. That was one thing the Giants shouldn't have been able to do against Washington.
Was the fake a quality one? Sure. Is Jones pretty athletic for a signal caller? Also sure.
But to see No. 8 pulling away from multiple Burgundy and Gold players and carrying the ball for 49 yards — FORTY NINE YARDS — was insanely damning for a group that was supposed to be a stout one.
Ugh. That clip is depressing.
