Belichick opens Friday presser by passing best wishes to Ron Rivera

Football Team

The NFL world spent Thursday night reacting to Ron Rivera's cancer diagnosis, and that process continued into Friday morning in New England.

Before taking questions from Patriots reporters in a training camp press conference, Bill Belichick made sure to let everyone know that Rivera is in his thoughts.

Here's what Belichick said about the Washington Football Team's already beloved leader:

On behalf of our team and organization, first of all I want to send along our best wishes to Coach Rivera.

Ron's been a good friend and certainly a person that's had a great career in the National Football League. He's a quality person, player, coach. So [I] just want to send our best wishes along to him and hope for a speedy and complete recovery. Hope that he's doing well.

While Rivera is not surprisingly embracing the challenge of beating cancer, it's still startling to know he and his family now have to go through that experience. He's got everyone behind him, though, and it's going to make one hell of a story when he takes it down.
