Everything is starting to really click for this Washington Football Team heading into Week 14 of the NFL Season. They're in the midst of a three-game winning streak and the team morale seems to have reached an all-time high. Recently, quarterback Alex Smith had some strong comments about guard Brandon Scherff that gave the six-year pro "goosebumps."
"I think Brandon's the total package. From a talent standpoint, I think he's the best player at that position in the league. One of the best teammates I've ever had, it means so much to him," Smith said. "He's so invested in this team. Like I said, you can feel his energy in the huddle, you certainly miss it when he's gone – it's significant, he's that type of player."
Scherff couldn't believe what he had heard.
"That means a lot, I actually got goosebumps listening to that," Scherff told NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay. "Coming from a guy who's been in the league for 16 years and has played with so many guys. That's the greatest compliment anyone could give me. You put the hard work in through the spring, summer, and winter, just grinding each day is paying off and people are noticing."
Scherff continued: "For Alex, somebody who nobody thought he was going to play football again, to go out and do what he does. We've won three straight with him, he's an incredible leader, incredible person, for that guy to say something like that means a lot to me."
Scherff, 28, has missed just three games this season with a sprained knee, however, since returning to the field he's been phenomenal. Washington's fifth overall pick in 2015, the three-time Pro Bowl selection has earned the right to receive such compliments from the team's signal-caller.
