The Washington Football Team took a loss Sunday that was hardly surprising, falling 31-17 at the hands of the Ravens. Even though Baltimore was a double-digit favorite heading into the matchup, not everyone was impressed by Washington’s performance in the loss.
ESPN analyst and former free safety Ryan Clark played 13 seasons in the NFL, including three in the nation’s capital. He chimed in on Twitter during the game to take a shot at his old employer.
Clark didn’t hold back, saying the team didn’t even deserve the word “football” in its name. Washington is in between names after retiring “Redskins” over the offseason, but Clark thinks the team needs to either start playing better or keep the word “football” out of it.
The tweet was prompted by former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III entering the game for Baltimore. Washington responded by picking him off on his first pass attempt, though it wasn’t enough to get the team back in the game before time expired.
