Trent Williams took the field Sunday for the San Francisco 49ers for what was his first game since 2018. The former Washington offensive tackle didn’t take long to make his presence felt against the Arizona Cardinals.
San Francisco ran a trick play with tight end George Kittle taking the handoff and running to the left side of the field. Williams ran past the Cardinals’ defensive line and went straight for his assignment in the second level: Jordan Hicks.
What happened next was something Washington fans became accustomed to during Williams’ nine seasons in the nation’s capital. However, an ugly year-long standoff between the franchise and star lineman resulted in Williams’ departure for the Bay Area.
Even after sitting out the entire 2019 season, Williams showed he’s still capable of delivering big blocks when called upon.
