Facing off with the Washington Football Team on Monday, Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers have a chance to pull off a sweep of the NFC East in 2020.
That, of course, means that in wins over the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles, the quarterback has enjoyed a fair amount of success. Therefore, the FOX broadcast for the Monday afternoon contest wanted to share those numbers with the audience.
The only problem was, some of those numbers were very, very off.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. That says Roethlisberger has thrown 250 interceptions against the NFC East out there. With some quick math, that's around 83 interceptions a contest. Hard to see a team being 3-0 in those games.
The graphic, which clearly had typos, also noted that the quarterback's passer rating in the three games was "35/12." That is not a number that is used to describe the stat typically.
To clear things up, Roethlisberger has thrown nine touchdowns against the NFC East entering Week 13, but he's thrown zero interceptions. That's a big difference from 250. His average passer rating is also 119, which is very good.
Maybe Roethlisberger will throw 250 interceptions against Washington, and maybe FOX was just predicting the future. 2020 is pretty unpredictable.
